Show Notes

If you’ve never heard of Hidradenitis Suppurativa (HS), you’re not alone, but more than likely you know someone who may be silently suffering with this chronic inflammatory skin condition.

HS can affect our most intimate places on our physical body causing pain, discomfort and disability. HS also can have a profound impact beneath the surface on our psychosocial wellbeing.

Even if you don’t have HS, no doubt at some point in your life you have experienced a felt sense of shame, a universal experience, that makes this episode one you’re going to want to tune into.

In this episode, we are stripping down the myths and misconceptions about HS, reveal how best to navigate living with it as well as shine a spotlight on how to shed the shame that keeps too many people hiding in plain sight when it comes to living with HS (or any other challenge for that matter.)

I’m grateful that Brindley Brooks, the Founder and Executive Director of HS Connect, a patient led non profit advocacy group for those with Hidradenitis Suppurativa (HS) is my guest and sharing her story of living with this disease.

She's suffered with HS for 34 years and was silent about her battle for the majority of that time, it wasn't until she had wide excision surgery for her HS that she started the conversation and now she can't stop!

So grab your favorite beverage and get cozy, because if you’ve ever felt unseen and unheard, especially when dealing with a medical issue, you are gonna want to listen to this.
